After earning a Master of Arts in Literature from Oregon State University, and teaching college-level English for the University of Tennessee at Martin, Mattie continued her skills development path toward Resonant by serving as Associate Director of the Writing and Learning Commons at Western Carolina University.

Mattie’s love of the printed word and extensive experience in academia are seen in both her respect for other writers’ unique voices, and her passion for honouring the hard work of dedicated researchers. Most importantly, when uplevelling grant applications and technical communications, Mattie targets her focus on the intended audience to ensure proposal content is fully accessible to reviewers.

With her winning combination of strong attention to detail and finely tuned knowledge of multiple writing styles and conventions, Mattie offers a valuable final polish on submissions to major federal funding agencies for the natural sciences, and social sciences and humanities, as well as to provincial funders supporting technology, commercialization, and economic development.
